Background
Alanah Correia started taking photographs after being heavily inspired by Mirjan van der Meer’s work she stumbled upon in 2009. Since then, she has been learning from available resources, such as the internet and local libraries, on how to successfully compose a photograph. At the age of 15, she was accepted by Viewpoint Gallery as an exhibiting member, and had the opportunity to reach out to the larger art community. She successfully created Viewpoint’s first summer program for youth, and will be having her first solo show in the summer of 2012. Alanah is continuously inspired by nature as well as universal emotions that we all tend to take personally, and she uses these in her photographs.
