Philosophy I love to give details prominence and importance, to emphasize pattern and texture in the photographs and see things that others might have overlooked.
Style I take pleasure in exploring a shape; revealing a sensuous texture; a quiet moment or a rhythmic pattern. There is also a strong graphic element to my work; simplicity of design, colour and shape. I tend to look for the abstract in my subjects, playing with light and colour to capture an unusual viewpoint or element. Both the natural and urban worlds provide much of my inspiration. More recently I have been exploring the similarities between the geometry and abstraction of quilts and modern architecture.
Technique I work primarily with a digital camera and natural lighting. I enjoy both outdoor and studio work as each provides a different experience, challenge and creative exploration. All photographs are printed as giclée prints on archival paper using archival inks. They are matted using archival window mats and mat board and framed in a classic, black metal frame.
