Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Gallery Assistant will assist with administrative duties. The successful candidate will work with Gallery members and the Assistant Director to install exhibits and assist with promotions and public relations. S/he will work with the Strategic and Financial Planning Committee and will develop and execute fundraising events and attend Board meetings. Other responsibilities include program facilitation,membership retention and development, community outreach and communication with gallery visitors, artists and the media.
Required Skills Computer competencies: Familiar with Macs and PCs, MS Word, Excel, E-Mail; Excellent writing and editing skills.
Fundraising competencies: Demonstrated multi-tasking abilities; Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure; Professionalism and diplomacy; Positive attitude and ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Fundraising experience is an asset.
Eligible students:
are between 15 and 30 years of age;
have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
are Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
are legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant Nova Scotia legislation and regulations.
