ViewPoint Gallery will be hiring a full time Student Gallery Assistant for ten weeks who will assist with administrative duties, social media and public relations, and gallery programming. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about artist-run centers, cooperative structure and gallery management. Additional responsibilities include program facilitation, membership retention and development, community outreach and communication with gallery visitors, artists and the media. The successful candidate will work with ViewPoint Board of Directors, Gallery Members and the Assistant Director. Flexible hours may be required, including some evenings and weekends.
Excellent written and spoken language skills
Comfortable with both Mac and PC computers, MS Word, email, etc.
Strong understanding of Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, blogs)
Positive attitude and ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Strong interest or background in photography is an asset
are between 15 and 30 years of age;
have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
are Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
are legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant Nova Scotia legislation and regulations.
