Two Places One Space
Dick Groot

The photography taken while on a winter break in Cuba (2007) reflects a spontaneous view of what came before my lens. It is a collection of images of people in their neighborhoods and of the architecture in various states of disrepair.
I next visited Andaluz and Southern Portugal (2008) to learn about the impact of the 800 year Moorish presence that ended with the expulsion of both Muslims and Jews by the Spanish King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in 1492. I concentrated my photography on the magnificent architecture in Grenada, Cordoba, Ronda, Sevilla and Lisbon.
I have not titled the photography in "Two Places One Space" to emphasize the geometry in the architecture and not give away the location.

UNDERGROUND
Hannah Minzloff
UNDERGROUND consists of panoramic Black & White photographs of underground transit systems in North America and Europe including Toronto, Montreal, London, Paris, Berlin, Munich and Barcelona.
The motivation for UNDERGROUND came with a renewed reliance on public transit: while on sabbatical in London, UK and travelling in Europe I used underground transit extensively to commute in each city.  The return to a subterranean world brought back memories of my own history with this method of transportation; travel to school, university and work, along with personal and social outings. UNDERGROUND explores the merger of action and the memory of action by having transit riders as both the audience and the subject while they are themselves commuting.
