First Impressions - Central American Light by Anne Bastedo
Dates of exhibition: April 3 - 28, 2013 Opening Reception: Thursday April 4, 6-9pm Artist Talk: Sunday, April 14, 2pm
Anne Bastedo loves photographing almost
anything. She lives in Halifax and on Sherbrooke Lake near New Ross, Nova
Scotia. Anne has been involved in "left brain" activities for most of
her life so she loves engaging the "right brain" and being creative.
Anne's main photographic interest is in colour, texture and pattern. Light
transforms and emphasizes all of these factors in a scene. A recent trip to
Central America provided the perfect opportunity to work on expressing her
first impressions of the effect of the tropical light on what she was
experiencing. This show is comprised of
images taken under various conditions in numerous locales. It is organized to
convey the effect of this light on the colours, textures and patterns of what
she photographed in the areas she visited.
